When you walk into your house, whether it is through the front door, the garage, or a side door you want to walk into your place of refuge. The last thing you want is to find more stress and anxiety because your home is cluttered.

Whether you have hoarding tendencies, your home is hoarded up, or simply need assistance in adding a system of organization back to your home, as the only Hoarding Specialist in the state of Georgia, I will help you organize your home in such a way that there is a place for everything you need. I provide simple solutions for all your organizing needs to increase the efficiency and order in your home. We will pay particular attention to the following rooms:

  • Remove clothes that do not fit.
  • Remove clothes that are beyond repair.
  • Organize the remaining clothes.
  • Store other items in clear, labeled containers, so items can be easily located.

The kitchen cupboards and drawers should be organized in such a way that you have easy access to the things you use most frequently. The items that you use only occasionally or on special occasions can be placed in clear containers, which are then labeled and stored out of the way.

Non-perishable food staples can be stored so that you can see what you have and do not end up buying things you already have in your cupboard.

The garage can be organized so that your car fits easily in its place. Other items like lawn care and gardening tools, outdoor toys, sporting equipment, coolers etc. should be grouped together and then stored neatly.

Attic or Basement Storage Rooms

The only things that should be stored in these places are things that you want and that you use from time to time. Items such as:

  • Suitcases
  • Holiday Decorations
  • Toys that are in good condition that can be passed from one child to the next
  • Clothes that are in good condition and can be passed on to the next child
  • Furniture that is in good condition and will be used – maybe as a child grows up.

These items should be grouped together, placed in clear containers (if appropriate), and labeled.

Children’s Playroom

The best way to keep a children’s playroom in decent shape is to have a place for every toy and then to teach the children to put things away when they are finished with them.

We all know that this does not always happen. Make life easy for yourself by making it obvious for everyone to know where to put these toys. Having taught kindergarten and first grade for many years I have lots of creative ideas to share about how to organize and store children’s toys. Have designated spots for stuffed animals, books, CDs, legos, blocks, games, paint, crayons, paper… etc. A picture of the item can be put on the container so that even those that do not yet read can figure out where to put the toys.

A bedroom should be a quiet, relaxing place. Neat and tidy so that you can really get a good night sleep. It should be clutter free.
