What is situational disorganization? It is disorganization resulting from a new and different, sometimes temporary situation. This type of disorganization can be overwhelming, stressful and lead to feelings of anxiety. Some examples of situational disorganization are: Moving Divorce Death of a loved one Remodeling your home New baby Newly diagnosed illness I’m experiencing situational disorganization first hand because my kitchen is being remodeled. I moved everything out of my kitchen and the sitting area adjacent to the kitchen. I piled everything into my dining room so that I could still use my living room. The entry into the living and…

My Home Improvement Projects and Priorities

By | accomplish, change, Closets, Garden, home improvements, Priority, projects

Recently, I’ve been neglecting my blog. I have turned my attention away from my computer and toward some much needed home improvement projects. Last year, I juggled writing my blog with time spent on clients, time on the business of running a business and time attending to home improvements. The past few months, honestly all of this year, I have devoted more time to my clients, running my business, and home improvements. I completely neglected this blog. So, I thought I would give you an update. As I think many of you know, I moved into my house a couple…

What do you do when you’re feeling overwhelmed? Do you walk away from whatever it is that is overwhelming you? Many of my clients are challenged by that feeling of overwhelm. After that, I planned to take the July issue of the Oprah magazine and relax in the sunshine in…

Do you wear blinders in your house? So many of my clients admit that they are so bothered by the chaos and clutter in their homes that they intentionally pretend it’s not there. Do they actually wear blinders? They do not. However; the fact remains that they pretend the piles of paper or clothes or empty boxes aren’t there. This is where I come in. As a Certified Professional Organizer who specializes in Chronic Disorganization I help my clients remove these blinders and devise strategies for clearing the chaos and removing the clutter.  This means that I work closely with each…

Priorities

By | Organizing Strategies

Do you ever say things with conviction and then not follow through? I know I do sometimes. I have made promises to myself and then, I guess, not made that promise a priority – so it never happens. I have done that regarding this blog. I have told myself time and again that Wednesday mornings I will take a few minutes and create a new blog post. As you can see from the date of my last blog post a full month has gone by. What have I done with my Wednesday morning blog time? I can give you lots…
