Thinking About Our Veterans

By appreciation, choice, Community, decision, vounteer

Do you say, ‘Happy Veterans’ Day’? I’m not sure. What I am sure of is that I’m thankful for all those who generously volunteer to serve in our armed forces. I have family members to think about. Do you? My father served in the Korean War. My son enlisted and served a tour in the United States Navy and now my nephew is in the Navy also. He’s studying to be a dentist. Once he’s finished with his program he will serve as the Naval Dentist wherever he’s posted. It’s a choice I feel beholden to all those who volunteer…

Freedom and Bravery

By thankful

Happy Memorial Day! On this day I give thanks and remember all those who have served our country. I feel very blessed to live here in the United States of America and always remember that freedom comes at a price.       I love Thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday. It allows me to express just how thankful I am for all the blessings in my life. I am very lucky as I have many. On the local news this morning there was a segment on how local communities here in Atlanta are celebrating and remembering those who’ve served in our armed forces. There was a picture of a boy scout placing flags in front of gravestones at a cemetery and there was information about several parades. On the Today Show there was a segment about two sisters who’ve started a company called Sword and Plough. Their company makes things like handbags and tote made from surplus military material. They use things like old parachutes and fabric from old uniforms. Another interesting thing about this…

How Do You Show Gratitude?

By action, appreciation, behavior, daily routine, Garden, hobbies, home organizing, kindness, maintenance, thank you

As Thanksgiving Day approaches I have been thinking about all the many things for which I am thankful. The most obvious are my health, my family, my friends, my home, my hobbies, the community in which I live and the fact that I have a job I love. I appreciate all the blessings in my life but am I outwardly showing my gratitude? One of the ways I demonstrate how thankful I am is to care for my home and garden. I make sure the inside of my home is organized. The items I treasure are displayed. Other items have homes…
